OBS: Le CR exerce une surveillance indépendante de nature quasi judiciaire. [Il] fait partie intégrante du processus décisionnel lié à certaines activités de sécurité nationale et de renseignement, et il intervient avant qu'elles ne soient menées.
OBS: Nommé par le gouverneur en conseil, sur recommandation du premier ministre, le CR est obligatoirement un juge à la retraite d'une juridiction supérieure. Il occupe son poste à titre inamovible pour un mandat maximal de cinq ans. Le poste est renouvelable une fois, pour une période maximale de cinq ans. Le CR effectue ses tâches et ses fonctions à temps partiel.

OBS: The IC conducts independent oversight reviews of a quasi-judicial nature [and] is an integral part of the decision-making process for certain national security and intelligence activities before they can be conducted.
OBS: Appointed by the Governor in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, the IC must be a retired judge of a superior court. He holds office during good behavior for a term of not more than five years and can be reappointed for one additional term of not more than five years. The IC performs his duties and functions on a part-time basis.
